SUPORTING YOU
The majority of our nursing team each have over 10 years continuing experience within our services, others reaching in excess of 15 years, all good indications of a consistent approach to the delivery of your care package.
Our nursing staff mainly live in the local area and have a wide range of skills and experience in many areas of care provision. We employ nurses from across the spectrum of care including learning difficulties, mental health and general medical.
Some of the nursing staff also hold dual registration, are NVQ assessors and each has their own area of care in which they concentrate on specific training such as diabetes, tissue viability, infection control, dementia care and many others.
Members of our support staff teams are equally consistent and can boast long service records. The vast majority of those people are in possession of NVQ certification in care related disciplines and can provide evidence of inclusion in many aspects of further training.
The provision of quality staff is sourced through a vigorous short-listing criteria and interview by a panel of senior managers with vast experience of providing services to people with learning difficulties in a variety of environments.
New employees are not allowed to commence employment without the provision of an enhanced disclosure through the Criminal Records Bureau (C.R.B.) or referring to two references as an additional support.
ACCOMMODATION
Nursing home care by its very nature provides higher levels of support than you would normally expect within a residential or supported living setting and this might be for a variety of reasons.
All bedrooms therefore are single with each room equipped according to the needs of the person who resides in them. There are special aids for lifting and bathing and to assist with all aspects of your personal care.
There are 14 bedrooms in total divided between two buildings known as Manor View and Woodlands View. All of the accommodation in this area is ground floor which provides easy wheelchair access.
In addition there are privately stocked garden areas for you to relax in or if you wish to, engage in a little gardening. Our horticulture manager and his team are also on hand to provide any advice or guidance in this area.
Each of the buildings has its own dining room and lounge areas where you can relax in the company of others and share experiences over good home based cooking made to your own preferences.
There is also a small sensory room available for you to use which is great if you want to spend a little time to yourself.
The home itself lies within a mature landscaped area of historical importance. The area itself has been verified as an ancient Viking settlement hence the name Thingwall which was taken from the Viking “Tingvelle” meaning, “meeting place and parliament”.
